2011 NATURE’S BEST PHOTOGRAPHY WINDLAND SMITH RICE INTERNATIONAL AWARDS – DAVIDE’S IMAGE AT THE SMITHSONIAN EXHIBITION
Nature’s Best Photography magazine has announced the winners of the 2011 Nature’s Best Photography Windland Smith Rice International Awards. Among more than 21,000 images received for the competition, the jury has chosen to award as “highly honored” one of my underwater image, showing two stingrays. The shot will also appear in the Fall/Winter 2011 issue in the Oceans category, due out in November.
The winning and highly honored images will be displayed in the Nature’s Best Photography Windland Smith Rice International 2011 Awards gallery at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C. from the end of April through September of 2012.

Image of the month
During one of mine ritual walk up to my valley, with the aim of checking for ice status on the surface of two small alpine lakes, I step into a great nature event; the mating and egg deposition of the Alpine frog (Rana Temporaria) which copulate on the last winter snow patches.

Festisub 2011 underwater festival hosted my underwater photo exhibition; during the event I had the privilege of meeting two great men and underwater world icons: Calipso’s Captain Albert Falco (first on the left – first picture) and Christian Petron (in the center – first picture and second one) head photographer of the film “THE BIG BLUE”. Thanks Pascal and Michel for giving me this great opportunity.
